Group Show „Echoes of Gaia” with Viron Erol Vert

22.05.2025 - 26.07.2025

Opening: Thursday, May 22, 2025, 5-8 p.m.

The Page Gallery, Seoul

The Page Gallery presents „Echoes of Gaia“, an exhibition that reimagines the Earth as a living being and features six artists whose practices attune to its resonance. In Greek mythology, Gaia is the primordial mother who gave birth to gods, humans, and all living beings—venerated as the goddess of the Earth who breathes life into the world. Inspired by Bruno Latour’s Facing Gaia, this exhibition envisions Gaia not as a passive backdrop, but as an active, sentient, and at times resistant presence. Through the works of six artists based in Berlin and Dakar, Echoes of Gaia explores how art can amplify Gaia’s reverberations. What have we lost—and what might we rediscover?

The participating artists, shaped by diverse cultural backgrounds, articulate critical reflections on nature and the environment in the age of the post-Anthropocene. Their works unfold posthumanist imaginaries through layered narratives and forms. The exhibition considers how the act of ritual can move beyond repetition or symbolic gesture to become a poetic and political medium for healing, transformation, and mediation. Through bodily practices, sensitive engagements with material and perception, and the reimagining of myth and cultural heritage, the artists suggest that contemporary art can serve as a channel—connecting the human and the nonhuman, bridging memory and ecology, and bringing to light what has long been unseen, suppressed, or forgotten.
